Dr. Lena Magardechian is a bilingual (fluent in Armenian) and highly trained Registered Psychological Assistant currently working towards licensure under the supervision of Dr. Marissa Long. She is very enthusiastic, nurturing, and non-judgmental when it comes to advocating and helping her clients heal from any sort of trauma.
Dr. Magardechian earned her Doctorate of Psychology with Honors from the California School of Professional Psychology (CSPP) in Los Angeles, California in the year of 2017 with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT). She also holds a Masters Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. Dr. Magardechian has been awarded and acknowledged by the dean of her school for her level of care and advocacy work in mental health.
Training and Experience
Dr. Magardechian’s diverse experience in the field of mental health has focused on relationships and individual work. In her pre-doctoral internship she utilized Collaborative Language Systems Family Therapy in her work with clients recovering from trauma, severe mental health disorders, and interpersonal issues. During an internship at Alliance-Charter High Schools she helped first generation college students prepare for college in a meaningful and impactful way. Additionally, Dr. Magardechian has experience working in both inpatient and outpatient facilities for drug and alcohol recovery, preparing her for work with acute, chronic and short term clients.
Areas of Interest
Dr. Magardechian is specifically interested in educating and counseling couples, families and individuals with gender related issues. She enjoys deconstructing and addressing power dynamics and approaches therapy with the mindfulness of gender, race, social economic status, marital status, language differences and ethnicity.
Dr. Magardechian has a passion for the work of addressing injustices advocating awareness for mental health her with her non-profit charities, Women’s Advocacy Club and Men’s Advocacy Club.

Dr. Magardechian’s vibrant energy comes across whether she is quietly empathizing or using humor to express a point. Sitting across from her is as comfortable as sitting across from a long-time friend but her education and training allows the supportive environment she creates to also bring about insights, growth, and healing. She has a high level of respect and appreciation for individual differences and using those unique qualities as strengths whenever possible.
