When you meet with Dr. Parks, you can expect to feel safe, accepted, supported and challenged. She approaches clients’ treatment concerns with benign curiosity, compassion and tenderness and encourages her clients to do the same. Using an integrative treatment approach grounded in psychodynamic and interpersonal theories, Dr. Parks facilitates her clients’ deep, mindful reflection upon their personal experiences and authentic expression of affect, which together lead to increased insight and self-awareness. She also welcomes humor into the therapeutic process, recognizing that levity can often be an elixir to suffering and facilitate movement from metaphorical spaces of darkness to light.
