Dr. Patel is a Registered Psychological Assistant (PSB94021860) who practices individual and adolescent psychotherapy under the supervision of Dr. Makisha Lawrence, Psy. D.
Dr. Patel earned his Psy.D. in Applied Clinical Psychology along with a master’s in Marital and Family Therapy from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology, Los Angeles. He additionally earned his Bachelor or Arts in Psychology from California Polytechnic State University, Pomona.
Training and Experience
Dr. Patel has experience providing psychotherapy to a wide range of populations such as children, adolescents, families, and individual adults seeking treatment for a variety of clinical issues. Dr. Patel spent his early training years providing psychotherapy for mental suffering such as chronic anxiety and/or depression, experience of trauma or bullying, stressors in one’s family of origin, stressors deriving from cultural responsibilities and culture-clash, general dissatisfaction, and other social, emotional, and behavioral mental health issues. During his years of work, he has gained supervised experience providing services in a vast array of settings including charter schools, community mental health clinics, and private practice. Dr. Patel completed formal internship training in the practice of contemporary psychoanalytic psychotherapy at the Maple Counseling Center in Beverly Hills providing in-depth therapy with both short-term and long-term, specialized treatment plans geared towards the needs of each individual.
In Session with Dr. PatelDr. Patel incorporates an intersubjective approach to exploring how one relates to oneself and others through a safe environment conducive to exploring emotional triggers that may lead to overwhelming feelings. With various treatment options, he is able to provide unique treatment goals formulated based on individual needs which can be revised as treatment progresses. Dr. Patel remains committed to helping reduce psychological pain and suffering for the opportunity to regain a sense of autonomy.
